Setup

Five minutes, no tools

It arrives assembled. All you are doing is putting soil and grass into it.

What you need

In the box

  • The Grassifier and its slide-out tray
  • Wheels
  • A 10-pack of porous liners
  • Setup guide

From the garden center

  • One piece of sod, approx. $8 - trim to fit
  • One large bag of potting mix (about 1 cu ft)

That is the whole shopping list.

Step by step

Setting it up

1

Attach the wheels

Turn the Grassifier upside down on a flat surface. Hold each wheel by the top and rotate only the threaded shaft clockwise into the corner hole until secure. Do not rotate the wheel itself.

2

Fit the tray, or don't

Leave the tray out and the Grassifier drains freely underneath - nothing to empty. If you would rather catch the runoff, slide the provided tray in before you start.

3

Lay the liner

Tear one porous liner off the roll and lay it in the base. If you are using a non-porous liner, poke holes in it so water can drain.

4

Add soil

About an inch of potting mix across the base. One large bag - about 1 cu ft - is plenty.

5

Lay the sod

Lay your piece straight onto the soil. One full piece, or two halves depending on how it was cut.

6

Water it in

Soak it well to bed the sod into the soil, then keep it watered like any patch of lawn.

Prefer to grow your own?

You can grow grass from seed straight in the Grassifier in about two to three weeks. Same setup - liner, soil, seed instead of sod - then water and wait.

It works out cheaper again, and some people just prefer it.
